Well hello there stranger, thought your world could use some rocking today. A little post from your friendly neighborhood bitch.
Recently, at
a Body Shop in Brussels, I was asked to sign an international petition against
animal testing in cosmetics.
Oh, what a delightful gem of an idea, protecting those cute fuzzy little bunnies, I thought to myself... isn't the world such a beautiful place?
But then, an alarm went ringing in my head that said:
"BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT!"This is what I saw in my head:
The end.
Author disclaimer.
The author does not take the side of pro or anti animal testing here (Well, at least not in this post). Just that you stop and smell the bullshit before you commend in haste anyone's seemingly noble actions.
You make me smile! I worked at TBS part time and was horrified when I learned it was owned by L'Oreal!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica!
DeleteI know, Anita totally sold out there. The great cosmetic hypocrisy- L'Oreal and Body Shop in bed together. Kind of like that Dictator movie.
So glad to see a post from you! Hope to see more soon! Love the old Atari figures. Am now having a flashback!
ReplyDeleteThank you fingers and sorry for this late reply! Your age is showing- heehee!
DeleteI would love to see a post on you with your thoughts on LUSH. They are currently huge advocates for banning animal testing and are offering a huge money prize to anyone who comes up with better ideas - http://youtu.be/2X_4J53N4ZE I am a little confused by this. I would also like to know if you feel this particular "show" by lush to be propaganda - http://youtu.be/f4K9iSyj_lk
ReplyDeleteI will say that I admire LUSH for sticking to their guns on the issues they feel strongly about (I believe Lush's founder parted ways with the body shop because of their murky ethics), but they certainly do their fair share of BSing, what with the promoting of "natural" products that contain chemicals taken out of most other cosmetics products due to research showing them to be harmful and such.
Hi CM,
DeletePlease see my bigger post on animal testing to know more about this issue.
Does lush get more media mileage than results? I think you will know the answer.
Wow Great blog. I'm following you hope you follow me back too http://makeupbyremy.blogspot.com/

Rowena, would you please keep blogging? I miss your posts so much. You're so smart and have lots of business knowledge to share! I learned a LOT with your blog.
ReplyDeleteCheers from Brazil! =)
Oh, you make me blush- haha! I will be blogging more but it will run the gamut of other topics as travel, fashion etc. as well as beauty. Cheers!
Deletehi rowena, i just did a post on animal testing , not so much to say who owns who, but to say PETA and body shop like companies are selling ppl crap, and for some reason beauty bloggers are buying it. i really wish people stopped listing 'tests on animals' as a con... like seriously, would u rather they 'test on humans'
ReplyDeleteHeii, i like your blog and I'm following you now!:) Follow back?:)
ReplyDeleteHaha this made me smile and frown all at once. Love you.

I just sent an email to the address above...I'm the one asking about ingredients list...looking forward to your reply! :)
DeleteHello there!
DeleteI didn't receive your email, sorry about this tech problem. Do you need a professional working arrangement? As i seldom accept work in the cosmetic industry now.
So sorry for this late reply and long silence. Been having problems accessing my blog/comments. But hope this works now and will be posting again soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great blog! Love your sarcasm. But... as I am a Finn, I couldn't help but notice that the review the blog got from the HBL newspaper wasn't translated from Finnish but from Swedish ;) Swedish is the second official language of our country so though the HBL is Finnish newspaper, it's written in Swedish.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the mind-burst, just couldn't help myself :D
Cheers!
Thank you, thank you, V!
DeleteAnd thank you for the enlightening me n that HBL article, google translate told me otherwise.
I am preparing to blog real soon and am thankful i still have a small following to start with.:-)
